Manatees are large mammals that live in warm shallow water near the coast. They like warm water, so they live in tropocal seas. They are often called "sea cows" because of their shape.
They move around a lot. In the water they move slowly. They are found in Florida waters. They can live almost 60 years. Manateed closest relative is elephant. The manatee that lives in Florida is called West Indian Manatee. Other types of manatees are West African, Amazonian, dugong, and Stellar Sea Cow which was extinct in 18th century by people hunting them.
